The School of Optometry & Vision Science's Professor Ben Thompson has been named a winner of New Zealand’s Te Pūiaki Putaiao Matua a Te Pirimia Science Prize - the country’s top award for scientific discoveries that have had a significant economic, health, social and/or environmental impact around the world.

Dr. William Bobier from the School of Optometry & Vision Science has been named Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the University of Waterloo, in recognition of his decades of leadership, teaching excellence and advocacy for the profession of optometry.

Earlier this month, an old friend visited the University of Waterloo. The Right Honourable David Johnston, former President of UWaterloo and former Governor General of Canada, joined faculty, students and members of the local community at the School of Optometry & Vision Science to speak about trust in our nation, the topic of his 2018 book, Trust.
